The A-Z Survey was created by Jamie at Perpetual Page Turner. I thought it looked like such a fun survey, I just had to participate! Please leave a link in the comments if you participated in this so I can check out your A-Z too!
Author you’ve read the most books from:
There are several but I think maybe Jean Plaidy, the author of many historical fiction novels about the kings and queens of England, France, Spain, and Scotland.
Best Sequel Ever:
I don’t want to use Harry Potter books for every “best book” answer so just assume that I am saying “the best book other than Harry Potter books”
One of the best sequels has been Unholy Magic by Stacia Kane – the second in her Downside series. I highly recommend you grab these especially if you like audio books!
Currently Reading:
The Dirty Streets of Heaven by Tad Williams – I read his Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn epic fantasy series and loved them so I was excited to read this unusual book about angels by him.
Drink of Choice While Reading:
Ice cold southern sweet tea! There’s really nothing in the world quite like it!
E-reader or Physical Book?
Neither. Audio books are my preference. I hope this format continues to gain popularity so that more and more books become available on audio right away instead of having to wait until some time after a book’s release.
Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:
Sirius Black. I had SUCH a crush on him in the HP series! He was just enough of a bad boy to pique my interest but was ultimately a good guy.
Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I wasn’t going to read it because of the subject matter but it ended up being one of my absolute favorites!
Hidden Gem Book:
Enchanted by Alethea Kontis. This was such a fun fairy tale retelling and it included bits and pieces from so many popular fairy tales. I loved it!
Important Moment in your Reading Life:
There have been many! But I would say when I decided that YA books were not just for Young Adults. That us old folks could still read and enjoy them too.
Just Finished:
I’ve been slacking off with reading, the last book I finished was The White Princess by Philippa Gregory. I love that series but didn’t love this 5th installment. Have you been watching The White Queen on BBC or Starz?
Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:
I’ve tried a little of everything and I can’t think of anything I absolutely won’t read but I’m not usually a big fan of werewolf books, westerns, war and espionage, and sleuth type mystery. There are exceptions for each of those though.
Longest Book You’ve Read:
The Witching Hour by Anne Rice – 1207 pages
** easy way to find this out. Go to your Goodreads “read” list, don’t scroll down but where you are on the screen there will be this little tab on the bottom that lets you choose how you want to scroll or how many books you want display. There is also a sort option with a drop down and you can sort by page.
Major book hangover because of:
Re-reads of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series
Number of Bookcases You Own:
4 7ft cases
One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I love this retelling of Arthurian legend from a feminine perspective!
Preferred Place To Read:
I like to listen to audio books sitting at my computer or in bed on my Nook playing Candy Crush.
Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:
“Dark chocolate, poured over velvet: that was how his voice tasted. I wanted him to follow me around and narrate the rest of my life.”
― R.J. Anderson, Ultraviolet
“Does Hallmark make a “Sorry I tried to drink your blood and touched you in a vaguely inappropriate manner” card? I settled for “How much do you remember?”
― Molly Harper, Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs
Reading Regret:
There are so many books that I wish I would have read when I was younger, so many that I feel like I missed out on. I wish I would have read Dianna Wynne Jones or Tamora Pierce.
Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):
I am notorious for quitting a series after the first or second book. The only series I can think of that I haven’t read all of the books AND I still want to continue it is Stacia Kane’s Downside series, but I don’t know if all of the books are released yet, I think she’s still writing them. There are a few out that I have to catch up on though.
Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, Angelfall by Susan Ee, and Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
Unapologetic Fangirl For:
Stacey Jay, her newest book Of Beast and Beauty was fanfreakingtastic. Everybody should be reading this! I love fairy tale retellings but this was above and beyond what I ever could have expected from it. Trust me, you want to be reading this.
Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:
There are several that I’m looking forward to but none that I’m overly excited about at the moment. Maybe the next book in the Song of Ice and Fire series but that could be YEARS before it’s released.
Worst Bookish Habit:
My friends say I harass strangers if I see them carrying a book that I’ve read or want to read. I think harass is too strong of a word, I am perhaps a bit enthusiastic and maybe could come off a little crazy, but if they are readers too they probably won’t have any problem nerding it out with me over a book. Stranger or not. My friends are haters. Who don’t read.
X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
Your latest book purchase:
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke. I just bought it at the used bookstore today.
ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):
My Life as a White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland. That book was SO much fun! I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series. Amazing audio narration too!

And The Book Thief! OMG. Three weeks in a row someone is raving about how awesome it is. Okay, fine! I'll buy it.
The Mist of Avalon is possibly my favorite book ever. I love how she creates a unique version of the King Arthur myth and makes the traditional bad gal of the story (Morgaine) into a tragic but loveable heroine.
Adding lots of books you linked to my TBR list. They all sound so fantastic. Next week can you make a post on how to conjure a 25th hour into the day so I can find time to read all these wonderful books?

I definitely recommend The Book Thief as well, it's so odd the way it's set up. It's narrated by death and he tells how it ends from the very beginning but it's such a quietly powerful read.
LOVE The Mists of Avalon. Like you, I enjoyed how Morgaine was portrayed and I also really enjoyed the way the shift from paganism to christianity was discussed. It was fascinating. Plus, Marion Zimmer Bradley's writing is just lovely.
And if I could figure out how to conjure a 25th hour, I would certainly blog about it DURING that extra hour! Thanks for stopping by Lizzy!

I LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED The Mayfair Witch trilogy by Anne Rice - even more than her vampire series! I didn't realize it was so long in pages, I gobbled it up so fast! :D I just wish there was more in the series *sniff* I've heard a couple of the vamp series overlaps the Mayfair series, but I just haven't gotten that far in the vampire series.
The Book Thief is totally on my wish list, I bought a physical copy last yearish (or the year before?) and now I don't know where it is... LOL Lost in the books.. But I've heard it's amazing and I didn't even realize it dealt with the Holocaust until recently. I want to read it even more now! Glad you loved it!
