15 Day Book Blogger Challenge– Day 2

Basic RGB

The Book Blogger Challenge is hosted by April at Good Books & Good Wine. Stop by her blog to sign up for this fun blogging challenge!!

Day Two’s challenge is to talk about your bedtime reading routine or ritual:

I don’t have a routine exactly, but most often I spend my evening listening to an audio book while playing a game like Bejeweled or Candy Crush or doing something else to focus while listening to the audio. I usually end up falling asleep with my Nook in my hands and my hubby will put it on the nightstand so I don’t break it.  I’m one of those people who cannot fall asleep in the dark and quiet, I have to have a nightlight or the TV on or something in order to sleep so I often fall asleep while listening to an audio book and then have to try to remember where I left off the next morning.

What about you? What are your bedtime reading routines?

Sounds like a great flow! And I have to be doing something while listening to an audiobook as well!

And I can only fall asleep with the tv on, also. Something about the light/white noise soothes me lol

Me too Cathy. If it's too dark or quiet I'll have nightmares! It used to drive my husband nuts but he's used to most of my crazy now! lol

Yeah, that's the problem with audiobooks...it is always a bit harder to remember where you are in them when you fall asleep than with books.

I just can't get into audio books otherwise they would be perfect for me.

I tried listening to audiobooks, but I tune them out too easily. I'm the exact opposite as I need to have quiet to fall asleep. Well, unless it's during the day. I can sleep through an earthquake during the day. *secretly a vampire*

Oh listening to audiobooks while you play online games is a good idea!

I've only listened to a few audiobooks but it is difficult if you fall asleep to figure out where you left off, haha!

I'm probably the opposite. I need silence and complete darkness to sleep. I know how addictive Candy Crush is though- my mom is constantly playing it. I don't listen to many audiobooks either.

Lizzy, I have to be doing something with my hands and eyes in order to focus my ears and mind on the story or I will become easily distracted too.

A lot of people have a difficult time transitioning to audio. It was the Harry Potter series that did it for me. I loved them so much, I wanted to try to experience the story in another way, and I was HOOKED from there.

That is definitely one of the drawbacks and a daily frustration for me. I wish there was an app that auto-detects when you've fallen asleep and turns off the audio. Someone should make that happen!

I have to do something to focus so that I can lose myself in the story. Losing my place is a source of daily frustration! I wish they'd make an app to auto detect when you've fallen asleep!

How on earth do you listen to an audiobook while playing a game?! I wouldn't be able to concentrate!!

I wondered if anyone would question this. I need to be actively doing something while listening to an audiobook in order to concentrate on the story, otherwise my mind wanders. The games I play are just mindless matching type games like bejeweled or Candy Crush or Zuma though, nothing that requires actual thought.
