Teaser Tuesday–Raw Blue by Kirsty Eagar

teasertuesday_thumb_thumb_thumb_thum
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along; you don't have to be a blogger! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I was so excited when I won a signed copy of this incredible, emotionally powerful book from Linds at Bibliophile Brouhaha that I literally did a little happy dance when I got the package in the mail. My husband thought I had finally lost my mind! Smile If you’re not familiar with Carly’s story in Raw Blue, here is the summary from Goodreads:

GOODREADS SUMMARY
Carly has dropped out of uni to spend her days surfing and her nights working as a cook in a Manly café. Surfing is the one thing she loves doing … and the only thing that helps her stop thinking about what happened two years ago at schoolies week.

And then Carly meets Ryan, a local at the break, fresh out of jail. When Ryan learns the truth, Carly has to decide. Will she let the past bury her? Or can she let go of her anger and shame, and find the courage to be happy?
Australian author, set in Sydney

For some reason I think of a Sunday afternoon when I stayed out in the surf after sunset, the headland becoming a dark silhouette against a purple sky, the water turning grey. The floodlights at the tidal baths looked like showers spilling gold onto the sand and I was humbled with wonder at so much beauty. But it was all a trick. Because now I’m going to be cast out, exiled. pg. 75
