Feature & Follow Friday–Favorite Childhood Picture Books

Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read and is a great way to find new book blogs to visit and to get to know other book bloggers. Both Parajunkee and Alison Can Read will spotlight a different blogger each week who you must follow in order to participate in this feature. Have fun!

This week’s question is:

What were some of your favorite picture books as a kid? If you have kids, what are your favorites to read to them?

I always hoped my kids would love books as much as I do and so I always tried to read to them and make sure they had a bookshelf of their own. My oldest son’s favorite books were:

Hand, Hand Fingers, Thumb (dum ditty dum ditty ditty dum dum) was a fun and silly book to read and he really enjoyed me reading it to him repeatedly. And then he liked to “read” it back to me making up his own silly sounds.

Wow, as for Alexander, he LOVED this book. He carried it everywhere with him; to preschool, to grandmas house, to kindergarten. He would carry it around until it would fall apart and I’d have to get him a new one. I read it several times a day. Just thinking of that book makes me smile! I recommend it to everyone I know with kids.

My youngest son was crazy about the Biscuit books:

He loved these books so much that when we rescued a dog from the pound 6 years ago, of course he named him Biscuit. And Biscuit he remains although he bears little resemblance to the dog in the book and if truth be told, I think it’s a rather ridiculous name for a dog. But it’s stuck with him. Here’s our Biscuit:

As for me, I can’t resist mentioning some of my most favorite books from when I was younger, even though it will certainly tell my age! lol Does anyone remember the wonderful Sweet Pickles series?

And of course I can’t forget the Mr. Men series! Funny how nostalgic this makes me…

I can’t wait to hear what some of your favorite childhood books were! Be sure to leave a comment so I can check out your answer and return the follow!
