About the Book

imageKat never believed she’d fall victim to her family’s stories about destined soul mates—she
makes her own fate, thank you very much. When she walks by a construction site and admires
the same sexy architect for the zillionth >me in a week, the last thing she expects is to be
slammed by a vision of his death.
Which activates the spell that will change their lives forever.
Jake is a single dad with a singular focus—create a stable life for him and his son. His ex‐wife
cured him of any desire to fall in love, but when an intriguing woman saves him from what
should’ve been a deadly accident, he can’t shake his fascination. Too bad she’s crazy, claiming
she’s a witch and that they’re soul mates—not exactly the “stable life” he had in mind.
Kat’s destiny comes with a deadline. If they don’t fall in love by her twenty‐fifth birthday—a
mere three

Can you briefly describe your book, Enchanted Destiny image

Rayka: Enchanted Destiny is about a witch who had about given up on her family tradition when she is confronted with a vision about her destined soul mate. After saving his life, she’s bound to him. They must accept their destiny before her 25th birthday, just weeks away or she’ll lose her magic forever. Single-dad and handsome guy-next-door, Jake, is in a quandary. There’s no such thing as witches. Is there? Enchanted Destiny follows Kat and Jake to their HEA. It’s a light, fun, paranormal romance.

When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer?

Rayka: I think I was always writing something. Stories, poems, even dialogues for my dolls. But I began writing romance as a serious career pursuit about 10 years ago. And what an amazing journey it’s been.

What inspired you to write Enchanted Destiny?

Rayka: I wanted to try a paranormal romance and thought I’d better start with something light. I’m not sure how I landed on the destined soulmate idea but considering I come from a culture where there’s superstition around a spoon falling to the ground and destiny around every corner, I suppose that was a natural place for me to go.

What about you, do you believe in destiny and soulmates?

Rayka: I do. I think there’s a lot that happens in our lives that’s meant to be. But I also think we have some control over the way that path is revealed or the journey down that track. Soulmates? I think we all have a certain someone out there who is the perfect fit. It might take kissing a lot of frogs before we find them though.

Are there any scenes in Enchanted Destiny that were particularly difficult to write, or especially fun to write?

Rayka: Some of Jake’s scenes, when he’s in total shock about the whole witch deal. I had to find a balance between making him disbelieving enough to sound real but not like a jerk. The scenes with Kat’s family were fun – I love the idea of a large, interfering family who can drive you nuts but who are solidly in your corner when you need them.

Do you identify with Kat or share any of her characteristics?

Rayka: Let’s see. She’s tall, beautiful, gorgeous hair and she has magic. Are you kidding? All of it! <grin>

What feeling do you hope the reader walks away with after reading Enchanted Destiny?

Rayka: There’s not a feeling in the world better for a writer than to know that her reader gets to The End with a sigh of satisfaction for tale well told. That’s what I want for my readers – a feeling of real satisfaction when they finish the book.

Are you currently working on anything? What can we expect to see from you in the future?

Rayka: I’m revising the sequel to this book. It’s called Enchanted Desire and is slated for a Spring 2012 release. It’s a little sexier—about a witch , Gina, who never discovered her magical powers. You meet both Gina and Eric in the current book.

Just for fun!   If Kat were to write her Christmas list, what would be on it?

Rayka: A bigger house.

Long lazy weekends with Jake.

A baby girl to round off their family of three.

That was fun. Thanks so much for hosting me on your blog. I love chatting with folks so I’ll stop back by during the day or I’ll always answer email at raykamennen@gmail.com. My web home is at www.RaykaMennen.com.

Thank you Rayka! I loved having you at The Happy Booker and hope you’ll agree to come back again with the release of Enchanted Desire which I can’t wait to read! I’d love to hear more about Gina and Eric!

JK, LOL. Drop a spoon, you'll have a visitor. Spill the mustard, argument in the house; black cat crosses your path, race home and hide under the covers.
