Waiting on Wednesday

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My Waiting on Wednesday picks this week are

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi due to be released on November 15, 2011

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel

Yet another dystopian themed book, this seems to be my new book addiction. I just can’t get enough of them! Shatter Me sounds like such an exciting book, I can’t wait to read it!! I love the intensity of her expression on the cover although I’m a little unsure about the dress, it feels a little too “wedding” to me. What do you think?

I’m also looking forward to reading Stolen Away by Alexandra Harvey which is due to be released on January 5, 2012.

For seventeen years, Eloise Hart had no idea the world of Faery even existed. Now she has been abducted and trapped in the Rath of Lord Strahan, King of Faery. Strahan was only meant to rule for seven years, as Faery tradition dictates, and then give up his crown to another. But he won't comply, and now chaos threatens both worlds.
The only one who can break his stranglehold on the Faery court is his wife. . . Eloise's aunt Antonia. Using Eloise to lure Antonia, Strahan captures his wife, desperate to end the only threat to his reign. Now Eloise must become the rescuer. Together with her best friends Jo and Devin, she must forge alliances with other Fae, including a gorgeous protector named Lucas, and Strahan's mysterious son, Eldric-who may or may not betray them.

I absolutely adore all things faery, so I definitely want to get my hands on this faery adventure early in the new year! I like this cover with the wings and whirly design. It sets the tone for a darkly magical read.

What amazing books are you anxiously waiting to read??

This is the first I've heard about Stolen Away but it looks totally fabulous. I just finished the Iron King and it has me wanting to read Faerie stuff in a big way, so onto the wishlist this goes. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for sharing.

As for Shatter Me, I can't wait to read it either. I love dystopian fiction. And yeah, now that you mention it that dress does look a little too wedding-y doesn't it? Hmm.

I've been into the dystopian thing too. Though I like it when zombies are part of the picture too. :)

I read Alyxandra Harvey's Drake Chronicles and thought they were pretty good. I'll definitely have to get my faery fix with Stolen Away. That's one gorgeous cover. Shatter Me has been on my list forever. Great picks this week.
